Today marks the 22nd year anniversary of the death of the late Latina Singer Selena Quintanilla.
Selena was gunned down on the 31st March 1995 in Texas at the age of 23, by her longtime friend and manager in charge of her boutiques Yolanda Saldivar. Selena sold as many as 60 million awards worldwide and was known as a role model for young children.
The Latina community were hit extremely hard as they believed one of their own had been taken away too soon. A movie name Selena was made in honor of her life and her achievements in the short time she spent on this earth. Jennifer Lopez was cast to play Selena and had always expressed her gratitude in being able to play such an influential icon in the Latina community.
Selena is survived by both her parents, her brother and sister as well as her nieces and nephews.
